Summary from Goodreads:
Knowledge changes everything…

Hoodoo-influenced Southern Louisiana seems like the perfect place for Camille to relocate and escape her abusive past. She didn’t expect to fall in love and plummet herself into the world of Amaranth, a place of exile for reformed vampires.

Thanks to her deadly vampire ex-boyfriend, she’s confronted with decisions that not only threaten her life but the lives of her inhuman friends that she has come to love. Entangled in her friends’ quest for freedom, she dives into their realm and faces the threats of the ruler of Amaranth—the mother of all vampires—and her own inner demons.

Will she derail her life and make the ultimate sacrifice for the very monsters that interrupted her bumpy path back to sanity—the one she wanted so desperately in the first place? Or will she find a way to escape with her vampire love before it’s too late?

My Review:
Amaranth is not your typical vampire novel. The author takes a somewhat different turn. The ending will leave you wanting more!

Camille has had bad luck with boyfriends, the last two were physically abusive to her. After moving to southern Louisiana to escape the first one she is now working at a small bookstore trying to move on with her life fro the second abusive ex-boyfriend. Unfortunately her last ex-boyfriend Andrew will not let their relationship end.

In between boyfriends Camille spent a short time in Paris while on vacation. It's there that she met Gavin, a great guy who she later runs into while working at the bookstore. They decide to go on a double date with his friend Gabe and her best friend Audrey who is in town for a visit. Both relationships progress very quickly. Camille has no idea what is in store for her. She quickly finds out that her best friend has become a vampire. Things really start progressing from then on. Audrey, Gabe and Gavin have to go to Amaranth to get their curse lifted so that they can be mortals again. When Camille learns that they might never return, she takes matters into her own hands. She enters a portal to Amaranth where she meets the vampire Samira, the mother of all vampires. Although now she has no idea that she has just walked into a trap that will lead her into a war between vampires.

The beginning of the book was a bit slow for me but as I continued to read on I realized that it was all part of the story building. The things that happened in the beginning make sense as the story progresses. The last part of the book is really good and the ending had my jaw dropping. Overall a a great story. I am looking forward to reading the other books in this trilogy. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way.
