Author Interview

Tell us a little about yourself…

A little about myself…I am half of the Ravynheart / Archer team writing the books in the Sidhe series. I am also the cover artist for our stories.

What do you enjoy doing when not writing?

When I’m not writing I’m usually working on book covers. Or talking over the next part of the story with Archer. Or discussing how the next cover should look. Or…well, *chuckles* you get the picture. Our lives pretty much revolve around the stories.

When did you begin writing?

Aftershock is actually my first story to be published. Archer and I role played together, and I kept hearing “Your such a descriptive writer. You should write stories!” So when we decided to turn our role play storyline into a published work I had to write Jhear/Donovan’s first book.

Do you listen to music, drink coffee, etc. while writing?

When I’m writing, or doing anything creative, “I” get fully immersed into what I’m doing. I hear every sound, smell every scent, see every motion going on within the scene I’m writing. I get so “into” the scene that things happening around me for real, can go completely unnoticed.

What book are you currently reading, just finished reading or going to read next?

The only stories I have read recently are those that Archer and I are creating together. With my busy schedule I don’t have much time to read more than maybe a page or two at a time, if that much, so mostly Archer reads the next scene on whatever he is working on and we talk about what might happen next.

Who are some of your favorite authors?

Well, I haven’t had a chance to read much of anything in quite a while. I was a big fan of Stephen King and Dean Koontz way back when, but its been a long time since life got in the way of reading.

What other projects are you working on or having coming out next?

The Sidhe project is the main thing Archer and I are working on right now. We have stories coming out for all three miniseries, Rise of the Unseelie, Champion of the Fey, and Touched, on a regular basis. I consider the stories from all of them to be one project since they are all set in the same world, and the all intertwine multiple times through the big picture.

Why did you choose to write this genre?

I have always been a big fan of fantasy. Dragons, elves, magic, all of it. You have to be creative to think that kind of stuff up, and to follow along, and I’ve always had a creative mind. If I can go out and do it myself in the real world, I don’t want to read about it. When reading, my imagination has to be kept entertained.

If  you could be any paranormal or have a supernatural talent what would it be and why?

That is a tough one to answer. I would love to have the powers that Jhaer/Donovan does, being able to manipulate the ground beneath his, or his enemies, feet. But, I would also love to be a dragon. Being able to fly, soaring high above the ground. Plus the strength and wisdom dragons have, they are just awe-inspiring.

Tell us why readers will enjoy reading your book…

There is plenty to love about Aftershock. The intense story, as the noble Sidhe start the day in celebration, only to find themselves on the brink of extinction before night falls. Being a novelette, it doesn’t take long to read, yet the characters, the world, the entire experience is immersive and detailed. You get a good sense of the characters, and where they are coming from, and since the stories are serialized this is only the beginning for Jhear/Donovan, the lead character. All three storylines are set in the same world, with characters from each line making appearances in the other two.
