Summary from Goodreads:
Zoe Calder has always been an outsider. Stashed away in boarding schools since her parents died, Zoe buries herself in the study of ancient worlds. Her greatest thrill is spending her summers with her archeologist aunt and uncle on digs around the world. And one day, while investigating a newly unearthed temple in Crete, Zoe discovers a luminous artifact that transports her to ancient Greece.

As Zoe quickly learns, the Olympian Gods are real, living people—humans with mysterious powers… Powers that Zoe quickly realizes she has come to possess, as well. However, when the people of ancient Greece mistake Zoe for an Olympian, the Gods must restore the balance of the ancient world… No matter what.

Zoe is forced to play a confusing and dangerous game as Hera rallies the gods against her—all except for Zeus, the beautiful, winged young god who risks everything to save her.

Out of time and out of her element, teenager Zoe Calder finds herself in ancient Greece, battling against the power of the Olympians and the vengeance of a scorned goddess—all for the strange and mysterious boy she has come to love.

My Review:
The Dig is a fun story that I enjoyed reading. It that had me hooked from the first page and left me with a great cliffhanger ending.

Zoe is a typical teenager with a not so typical life. Her parents died when she was young and she was left in the care of her archeologists Aunt Sophia and Uncle Alex. Every summer Zoe gets to travel to other countries to go on "digs" with them. So when school lets out for the summer she is excited to see what she will uncover in Greece. Not long after arriving at the dig Zoe sets off to do a little exploring. When she finds a newly unearthed temple she is transported to ancient Greek with the Olympian Gods.

At first Zoe just wants to find a way back to the present time she lives in. Along the way she meets some interesting people including "Blondie" who calls her "Curly". Zoe soon discovers that she has special powers. She is told that she needs to go to Mount Olympus. It is here that she meets the Olympian Gods. However in this story they are all five hundred year old teenagers. According to Hera they are the only Gods and that Zoe needs to go back to where she came from. She is not happy about Zoe and Zeus's fast romance. The Gods are like the popular clique at school. They stick together and listen the the queen bee who in this story is Hera. She will do everything in her power, and that is a lot, to destroy Zoe and have Zeus all for herself. Who will Zeus choose, his friends of five hundred years or the new girl Zoe?

I loved the storyline and all the action. The ending is quite a cliffhanger and I am looking forward to reading the sequel. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way.
