Summary from Goodreads:

TENDERFOOT is the first of four coming-of-age novels about a college girl struggling with the revelation of her family’s paranormal secret.

Jules is running. With the death of her mother behind her, she arrives at college in Chapel Hill ready to focus on friends, classes, and Andrew, the sweetest guy a girl could crush on. But Nick, the campus rock star, is always around, pressing every last one of her buttons. Things get strange when Nick plays his guitar, and even stranger when Jules discovers he wears a pendant identical to her dead mother’s. She wants answers. When her family’s secret is revealed, Nick helps Jules to accept who she is. Then Jules must choose between running away from the one person she has opened up to or running with him toward an unknown future.

My Review:

This book starts off slow but by the end I was somewhat hooked.

Julianna aka Jules is a college freshman who comes to find out she has paranormal senses. For most of the book the story follows Julianna around college campus as she is getting into the grove of being a college student. I almost stopped reading it because I just wasn't interested in reading about the characters going to class or going out to a bar drinking. As the story progresses we start to learn more about Julianna's parents and some of her background. Nick is this hot but creepy guy who knows everything and is there to protect Julianna. At first I wasn't sure about him but as we learned more about what and who he is I started to come around to liking him. Then there is Andrew. He is the star fencer and Julianna's boyfriend. I liked how there relationship progressed. They started out as friends and then became more. There were times when I thought he was a little crazy to be kind of stalking Julianna when they broke up. But it all worked out in the end.

While it has mystery, romance and paranormal I just has a hard time getting into it. It just seemed to take forever, almost to the very end of the book before we really found out what Julianna is and a little about her line. If there is a second book I will probably read it to find out more. This e-book was provided to me by the author for review. This did not affect my review in any way.
