Summary from Goodreads:
A Vampire Out to Clear Her Son's Name.
A Former Lover Bent on Revenge.
But Neither is Prepared for What Happens Next...
Vampire couple Olivia and Lucian were forced to separate nearly two centuries ago, but now a series of murders has brought them back together. Their task? To investigate who's responsible for the grisly killings. And the prime suspect is none other than Olivia's son, Kaden.
For Olivia, the reunion brings back all the pain of their shattered love-a love she abandoned to marry another. The decision held fateful consequences for herself and her troubled, warring sons. But her new mission also offers a chance at redemption as she risks everything to prove Kaden's innocence-and put back together a fractured family before it's too late.
Through it all, Olivia faces the seemingly unyielding hate of Lucian, a powerful leader of the Council, the enforcers of all immortals. He's determined to seek vengeance on Olivia and her son-but can his hatred withstand the love his heart can't deny?
The first book of the Misfits of the Lore series, Lover's Betrayal challenges everything you thought you knew about vampires and the paranormal. Savvy, sexy, and full of surprises, Lover's Betrayal will keep you guessing right up until the finale.
Lover's Betrayal is the first book in the Misfits of the Lore Series. This book had so much to offer and I loved every bit of it. I don't read many adult books but this is one that I really enjoyed and want to continue with the series.
Olivia gets a phone that her oldest son Kaden is being accused of murdering women. At the same time Olivia has been taking this drug that slowly kills vampires, while making her weaker everyday. Olivia along with her best friend Corrine make the trip to New York where her younger son Julian lives. Olivia does not believe that Kaden killed those women. They all get their plans together to start investing and to find the real killer. Just before they set out, two members of the council show up to arrest Kaden. The council leader being none other than Olivia's long time love and mate Lucian.
Lucian wants nothing to do with Olivia because he thinks she left him for Daughton, he deceased husband and father to her sons. Emotions run high when these two get together. Olivia is afraid to reveal the real story of why she married Daughton. At the same time she can't keep her feelings for Lucian a secret. Lucian tries to fight his feeling for her but eventually gives into them.
This book had it all, danger, betrayal, mystery, romance, action and some humor thrown in. I love reading vampire stories and this one was fantastic. The author added some other types of paranormal beings into the story. The plot and the characters were well written. There are so many twists and turns that it just made the story better and better as it went along. There are some adult scenes that I felt were touching on erotica. This happens only a few times and is not the focus of the story. I am looking forward to read the next book. I'm recommending this one to adults who loves paranormal romance and vampires.
This book was given to me as a review copy. This did not affect my review in any way.
